VIRGIN GALACTIC UNVEILS MACH-3 AIRCRAFT DESIGN

Virgin Galactic has announced the first stage design scope for its high speed aircraft design, and signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rolls-Royce to collaborate in designing and developing engine propulsion technology for high speed commercial aircraft.

The design philosophy of the aircraft is geared around making high speed travel practical, sustainable, safe, and reliable, while making customer experience a top priority.

The basic parameters of the initial design include a targeted Mach-3 certified aircraft with capacity for 9 to 19 people at an altitude above 60,000 feet. The aircraft would also be able to incorporate custom cabin layouts to address customer needs, including Business or First Class seating arrangements.

Rolls-Royce is a leader in cutting-edge technologies that deliver high Mach propulsion, and powered Concorde—the only civil-certified, supersonic commercial aircraft.

“We are excited to complete the Mission Concept Review and unveil this initial design concept of a high speed aircraft, which we envision as blending safe and reliable commercial travel with an unrivalled customer experience”

said George Whitesides, Virgin Galactic’s Chief Space Officer.

“We have made great progress so far, and we look forward to opening up a new frontier in high speed travel,” he added.

SAY HELLO to Virgin’s Valiant Lady

Virgin Voyages has revealed its second ship, Valiant Lady.

With a home port in Barcelona, and visiting destinations throughout the Mediterranean, Valiant Lady will launch with three 7-night itineraries, all going on sale in December of 2019 and setting sail in May of 2021.

Styled by top global design teams, Valiant Lady will be built by the master shipbuilders of Fincantieri in Genoa, Italy and will find home port for herself in Barcelona, Spain.

Home to some of the world’s best beach clubs, night clubs and yacht clubs these itineraries, typically sailed by super yachts, will play host to Valiant Lady’s voyages, all sailing from (and returning to) Barcelona’s Wharf home.

A fun feature aboard Virgin’s ships will be its signature on-demand Champagne delivery service called Shake for Champagne.

“It is never too early for champagne and there is always something to toast to while aboard Scarlet Lady. We want our Sailors to enjoy a glamorous holiday and what better way to feel like a RockStar than a sip of bubbly whenever and wherever you want it,” said Tom Mcalpin, CEO of Virgin Voyages.

When the Virgin Voyages Sailor App is shaken, a secret Virgin Voyages Champagne button is revealed and, with just one press, a bottle of Möet Chandon Impérial will be delivered to the Sailor.
