NEW QANTAS First Lounge in Singapore

Qantas has officially opened its newest First Lounge, a luxury space spread over 1,000 square metres at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

The new First Lounge will operate in tandem alongside the airline’s existing International Business Lounge, providing capacity for 240 customers and a bespoke offering for Qantas’ First Class passengers and top tier frequent flyers.

“Qantas’ new First Lounge in Singapore looks fabulous,” said The Travel Authority Group’s Managing Director, Peter Hosper.

“We have no doubt our clients will love it, and we look forward to sampling its delights ourselves next time we’re travelling through Singapore’s Changi Airport,” he added.

An open kitchen will serve up a Rockpool a-la-carte seasonal menu.

Expect to see local delicacies like a signature tea smoked duck breast with pickled cabbage and Chinese mustard and a laksa with crayfish, bok choy and fried shallots, along with customer favourites such as the salt and pepper squid with green chili sauce.

Qantas Creative Director of Food, Beverage and Service Neil Perry said the dining experience is inspired by Singapore’s vibrant culinary culture.

“The Singapore food scene is one of my favourites in the world. The iconic hawker markets and fine dining restaurants inspired us to design a menu that gives customers an authentic taste of Singapore without leaving the airport,” said Mr. Perry.

The lounge also features a cocktail bar serving French champagne, seasonal spritzes, Singaporean and Australian beer, a variety of Australian wines, and Singapore-inspired cocktails like the Calamansi Mojito – made from the local Calamansi fruit.

Business travellers will be able to work in an open, communal setting or individual lounge chairs with high dividers. USB and charging ports are located throughout, with wireless printing, Wi-Fi and TV screens for customers to stay charged and connected.

The new premium space is Qantas’ fourth First Lounge across its global network, joining Sydney, Melbourne, and Los Angeles.

RAFFLES SINGAPORE: The Return of an Icon

Singapore’s legendary hotel has officially re-opened following a careful and sensitive three-phased restoration, which began in February 2017.

Raffles Singapore claims to offer guests unparalleled luxury and an exciting new chapter in the iconic property’s rich history and heritage.

“There are few hotels in the world whose names have become virtually synonymous with the cities in which they are located – and none more so than the Raffles Hotel in Singapore”, said Christian Westbeld, General Manager, Raffles Singapore.

The meticulous restoration has created a refreshed social haven, exquisite new suite categories, vibrant lifestyle experiences and exclusive dining concepts.

Discerning travellers can expect new levels of comfort and service, brought to life by the fabled Raffles Butlers.

Jeannette Ho, Vice President, Raffles Brand and Strategic Relationships, Raffles Hotels and Resorts, commented, “We are very pleased to be part of the reopening of the iconic Raffles Singapore officially returning to the city, refreshed, reimagined and revitalised.”

The revitalised Raffles Singapore offers luxurious all-suite accommodations, across nine distinct categories, and the total suite count increases from 103 suites to 115 suites.

At the refreshed Long Bar, travellers will continue to enjoy the hotel’s most famous cocktail, the original Singapore Sling, along with the timeless tradition of tossing peanut shells on the floor.

“We can’t wait to explore the rejuvenated Raffles Singapore”, says The Travel Authority Group’s Managing Director, Peter Hosper.

“The restoration of this iconic hotel certainly looks to have been done with extreme sensitivity to its past and with an eye firmly on the future”, he added.

First opened in 1887, and declared a National Monument a century later by the Singapore Government, Raffles Singapore has, through the years, gained international recognition as an oasis for the well-travelled. It is a national treasure among Singaporeans who deeply value its historical significance and unique heritage.

From November 2019 to February 2020, martin hands the Business class apron strings over to Andrée Rosier for the first time.
